I’ve been asked that question thousands of times in my career as a business broker.
It is not an easy question to answer, hopefully after reading this eBook you will have an idea as to why.
For many of you that don’t know me, my name is Edward Pampalian, and I am the Founder and General Manager at Network Infinity, one of Australia largest business brokerage firms.
I started as a business broker after years of buying and selling businesses. In this time, I had opened and/or purchased over a dozen businesses across multiple industries.
Having had dealt with so many brokers in that time, I found it frustrating that they were unable to sell my business in a timely manner. I would almost always wait about three months before getting frustrated and selling the business myself.
I found it odd that, with so much to gain, the brokers I dealt with just would not contact me, keep me up to date, and most importantly, bring me any buyers.
After selling so many on my own, I felt that this was the career for me, so I studied and became a business broker.
Initially I was working alone from a spare room at home and I had no intention of building another business.
I was simply happy to have started a new career doing something I loved.
However, over time, I became very busy and found myself at a crossroads.
"Do I start employing people?"
"Do I grow the business?"
Even though my intentions were never to build a brokerage firm that would involve anyone other than myself, I was fortunate enough to be surrounded by good people that joined me on this journey.
With their support and loyalty, I was afforded the time to step away and work on establishing Network Infinity.
"There needed to be a difference between my business and my competitors."
So, I decided to take the biggest gamble of my business career and invested heavily in technology, legal work, education and most importantly time. After an exhausting two years, Network Infinity was up and running. We had our own systems, our own vision, a good team, we even had our own bespoke software built entirely from scratch, we were ready and have never looked back.
In this eBook, I am going to explain the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to selling your business. My intention for writing this is solely to educate those who want to know about the marketplace when it comes to business sales.
This eBook is based on my own experiences and those of my colleagues. Collectively we have dealt with thousands of business owners and buyers, allowing us a very privileged and unique insight into the marketplace.
